Iván Franco Fraga develops a pictorial work that explores the perception and representation of the image, probing the boundaries between reality and illusion. His work is distinguished by the meticulous use of materials, creating highly precise compositions that emulate photographic appearance. Through this process, Iván Franco Fraga plays with the notion of the simulacrum, questioning the relationship between the image and its referent, and how our perception accepts, without question, the visual deception proposed by the image.
Beyond the depicted subjects, his interest lies in the physicality of the works and the resources used to generate visual ambiguity that challenges our understanding of the real. In his pieces, light and texture play a key role, creating a sense of volume and depth that blurs the boundary between the pictorial and the photographic. Using both drawing and painting techniques, Iván Franco Fraga seeks to emulate the morphology of photography: from the grains of the image to the gray tones and chromatic aberrations, introducing a reflection on the fragility and temporality of visual representation.

Over time, his work has evolved towards a more structural approach, paying attention not only to the content of the image but also to its visual construction. In this sense, his works interrogate the very act of looking, raising questions about the fleeting nature of perception and the ephemeral nature of images in contemporary society.
